Abracadabra is Melbourne's longest established (1984) agency with the original owner and management which is Australian owned. We were also a founding member and past Treasurer of A.A.N.A. Australian Association of Nanny Agencies 1994. This association instigated Police checks and First Aid certificates in our industry which has finally led to the WWC Working With Children Card which is now a legal requirement in Victoria as in some other states. This card is to be phased in over the next three years for variuos sectors. ABRACADABRA IN HOME CHILDCARE services was one of Victoria’s inaugural providers of In Home Childcare, receiving Australian Government funding from the Strong Families and Community Strategy: Choice and Flexibility in Childcare initiative. Abracadabra is a founding member (2005) and has served as a committee member of NICA. National In Home Childcare association.

Sandy Faure the owner is an accountant by profession. Sandy has experienced the difficulty of acquiring reliable domestic services first hand when she needed assistance after the difficult birth with her own child, and then later the illness of her parents with cancer and dementia.

This Agency was created, while Sandy herself was a stay at home mum both frustrated with the lack of domestic services available in her local area and the drive of her business mind to return to the work force saw the birth of Abracadabra. 24 years on and the business has grown well beyond Sandy’s expectations and recently has gained support by the government incorporating the In Home Care scheme into her services. Abracadabra is also a Preferred Provider for TAC and W.C. for Domestic Services and Childcare.

Sandy has a very personal relationship with many of her clients and employees and is always fondly referred to as the cat lady.
